If there would be anything to use my last blog post of this quarter on, especially after the spamming I just had of all the old posts in my drafts that I never actually published, it would be George Carlin and his beautiful quotes. This is a man who put some real serious issues in a hilarious way and for that I admire him.
Here I have some videos of his stand-up on politics and rights.
Here are some of my favorite George Carlin Political quotes:
"In America, anyone can become president. That’s the problem."
"Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity."
"Have you ever wondered why Republicans are so interested in encouraging people to volunteer in their communities? It’s because volunteers work for no pay. Republicans have been trying to get people to work for no pay for a long time."
"Once you leave the womb, conservatives don't care about you until you reach military age. Then you’re just what they’re looking for. Conservatives want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers."
"The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a courthouse: You cannot post 'Thou shalt not steal,' 'Thou shalt not commit adultery,' and 'Thou shalt not lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges, and politicians. It creates a hostile work environment."
"If churches want to play the game of politics, let them pay admission like everyone else."
"I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death."
"Well, if crime fighters fight crime and fire fighters fight fire, what do freedom fighters fight? They never mention that part to us, do they?"
"You know the good part about all those executions in Texas? Fewer Texans."
"These days many politicians are demanding change. Just like homeless people."
"The owners of this country know the truth: It's called the American dream because you have to be asleep to believe it."
Hello! Welcome to my silly little blog about government. You should know going in that I'm more of a democrat so I make some biased comments but try not to. Watching me stumble into the world of politics and form opinions. Enjoy!

MLK Jr. And His Guns
With everything going on with gun laws over the weekend and on MLK Jr. Day,it makes sense why people would put those things together, but like this?
The article is saying that the military thinks Martin Luther King Jr. a man MURDERED BY A GUN, and who spoke of NON-VIOLENCE and PEACE BETWEEN men would have been "proud of its weapons?"
"Wow! This Nobel Peace Prize will look great right next to my gun collection! By the way military, I love what you've done with your weapons! Have fun shooting people!"

Artists Are Out of Touch
So the other day I saw this article about taxes jumping. Of course thats horrible and I wanted to check it out to see just how much these taxes were jumping. The article included this picture:
I apologize for the size, I'm just a simple blogger I know nothing about re-sizing images..
Now, I don't know about you, but whoever made this must be completely out of touch. My family and most of my friends' families do not even make what this picture says those families make. And a single person on their own making $230,000? HA! They wish!

Generals are Irresistable!
Remember that general who was writing a bunch of emails to another women? Personal emails? Emails they may or may not contain stuff a general should definitely not say?
It turns out that those allegations where unsubstantiated.
In the middle of November it was revealed that General Allen was exchanging emails with a Miss Kelley and there were Pentagram officials who characterized those emails as “inappropriate” and “flirtatious.” Oh, the horrid scandal and how it led to his resignation.

The Rape in India
I'm not sure if anyone's heard about the rape in India but this thing is crazy. In India, rape laws aren't like how they are here.India is finally pushing through on getting rape laws enforced and changing the way they look at women.
If you go and read the stories of what's happened you might cry as I did. Did you know in India if a women is raped they see it as her allowing someone to take away her virginity and her entire family is shamed and subject to ridicule and violence?
Here is where I originally heard of it, but it is everywhere now.
A young woman was raped by a bunch of men on a bus and died a few days later. Nobody helped her and even though they drove past police they didn't stop it either and I find this absolutely horrible. Ever since it happened so many women in India are starting to speak up about what happened to them and I think this needs to happen so people realize how much it's going on there and how big of a problem it is.

North Korea's Angry at US
hah! You see what I did there? I put "US" and in "us" and "United States". Get it? No... okay.
Here's an article about why they're angry with us.
North Korea has said, "we will take physical actions aimed at expanding and strengthening our self-defensive military forces, including nuclear deterrence" and that there would be "no dialogue to discuss denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula" and could be preparing for a third test.
Why? Because of Pyongyang, which has conducted 2 tests, was something the UN has condemned and they found it "unfair".
Honestly if we knew before North Korea had nuclear power that they were going to be such babies we probably would've killed them ages ago. We can't do that nowadays, though.

Million Man March for Second Amendment
There is a video going around that is an invitation and a plea for those who want to keep and not restrict second amendment to come to your state capitals to march on February 8th.
If you watch the video it doesn't actually give any information I just find it hilarious I'm so sorry but its just a really poorly done slideshow and I couldn't stop laughing. THERE ARE TEARS STREAMING FROM MY FACE.
There is an online petition as well that I encourage you to sign if it you want.

Obama's Inauguration!
Has everyone seen Obama's inauguration last night? I sure did. If you haven't, here's something for you to get caught up with.
He touched on so many issues in one short speech, from climate change to equality to jobs and everything between.
Have I mentioned before that I love Obama? Because I love Obama.
I went through and will list some of my favorite quotes:
"For we, the people, understand that our country cannot succeed when a shrinking few do very well and a growing many barely make it."
"We do not believe that in this country, freedom is reserved for the lucky, or happiness for the few."
"...for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well"
Yes, my favorite quotes are on equality, but who doesn't love that?

Calling Them Out
Please look at this video.
I know a lot of journalists are annoying people who have nothing better to do than hunt down people and persistently trying to get a story for them, but there comes a point where you realize they might be asking the questions that need to be asked and hunting them down with the ferocity in which we need the answers.
I really love this video because it's just normal videos compiled together. It's nothing scripted and shows weakness in those who control us. It is both scary but liberating knowing that they aren't these huge men in their nice suits who can do as they wish with you and yet here you see them squirm and stutter because they aren't as strong as we thought before. It's like when you're a kid afraid of the dark and then you remember that there's a light switch.
I really want to watch more of his videos but I'd like it more to actually see people answer this time, even though the point of the video was to show that they won't say anything.
I'd also check out their website wearechange.org

An Honorable Woman
I know this is really old but I just found it tucked away in my drafts and it's too incredible not to share. This woman in Turkey had been abused by a man for several years and one day she shot him, cut off his head, and left it in the center of the village. If that isn't hardcore I don't know what is.
Can I just say, this is by far the coolest thing a woman has done. I know it's bad to kill people and using violence to stop violence but I honestly don't care.
While being arrested she said "That is the head of one who toyed with my honour." Well there will be no toying with her honor now.
Global Warming
I saw this image the other day and it was really powerful to me and I wanted to share it. It's about global warming and the way I personally interpret it is that it's what people think global warming is versus what it really means. I feel like living in a country where there's no actual combat in war happening here we never really think that anything major could happen to us. We grow up hearing that there's starving children in Africa or Communists in China as if everything we don't like is an entire ocean away from us. Global warming is something that affects to whole world including us and yet whenever we think of global warming it's those commercials about Polar bears dying because of the melting ice. We don't even think about the fact that that ice is becoming water that could flood us.

Hugging Children is SUCH A CRIME
Forbes.com has written an article saying that Obama "using children’s pleas to end violence is about the most grotesque rhetorical tool available to politicians." Now, I do not agree with the word choice, but I definitely agree that using children to get your way is a pretty cheap shot. They might as well have said "Do you wanna pass more gun laws? No? Here's a Kitten!"
works EVERY TIME. Those for not passing the gun laws could show bright-eyes, dimpled children squeaking out their stories about how "if it wasn't for that man getting a gun illegally, he wouldn't have been able to save my life."
How could you say no to those adorable culturally-diverse faces?
While I'm at it, I might as well say my thoughts on the whole more-or-less-gun-laws issue.
The people who are going to use guns to murder people won't just stop because it's against the law. if someone really wants to kill people, they will do whatever it takes to get the gun and use it. I don't think adding more laws is going to prevent that much more from happening.

The Greatest Religion Ever
My teacher, while explaining the freedom of religion, brought up what is probably the greatest religion I ever ever heard of: Flying Spaghetti Monster.
It's a parody religion made up by Bobby Henderson. I salute this man, he is amazing. *slow claps for the prophet* I have been reading about this for the last hour and I have abolutely no regrets.
The followers of this religion call themselves Pastafarians. They say that an invisible, giant, flying, spaghetti creature with meatballs and creepy eyes created the universe after drinking a lot. I really wish there was a way to bold or emphasize every part of this individually because of how amazing that sounds.
I mean, look at that little noodle ball!:
ISN'T THAT THE CREEPIEST BUT MOST ADORABLE THING IN THE WORLD?!
Now my favorite part of the religion is the puns. You don't understand my whole-hearted love on puns. They say R'amen after their prayer instead of Amen, they celebrate Pastover instead of Passover, Ramendan instead of Ramadan, and every Friday is a holiday. Well, I guess I must wish you a Happy Holiday!
You should look at these site, though. Everything about this is amazing.

Hilary Clinton COULD HAVE DIED
If you haven't already heard, which almost seems impossible because the articles are everywhere, Hillary Clinton was hospitalized for a blood clot. According to Huffington Post, the blood clot was located in the vein in the space between the brain and the skull behind the right ear After reading everything in the article, the the most shocking part of that to me was that Hilary Clinton is 65. I mean, she looks pretty rough, but I thought she was in her early 50s.
With everyone freaking out about how the event will affect us politically, I was more curious about how the blood clot came about in the first place. It isn't even her first blood clot, apparently, with her first being in her foot in 1998. They say that the most likely explanation that blood clot in the leg brought on by extended bed rest after a concussion.
Studies are saying that They also think that dehydration from a gastrointestinal virus a month ago and the associated diarrhea. could have contributed.
Yet again Hillary Clinton is being shown as one tough lady and is probably gaining more young women in her following. I mean when you think of major women and role models, she's up in the top ten along with Opera and Susan B. Anthony.
